One of my favorite ways to teach young children new word skills is through play. Here is a wonderful learning tool that can help improve your child's capacity to learn new words.
This block letter set spins and each square set incorporates a learning book with words that match. The spinning block helps add a sensory component to learning. As the child sees and reads the words in the book they can spin the block letters to form the word. The moment your child has to stop and think about the word to spin and sound out, is the moment that the word starts to become more concrete in their mind.
Using the spinning blocks really allows them to play fun phonics games by sounding out words each letter in turn. When they spin the letters to form the word, they should sound it out and really practice saying it as they are looking at the blocks. The experience of "building" the word blocks themselves from the page of the book, really puts the fun and learning into your youngster's hands. They feel in control of "making" the word themselves and are more likely to comprehend word ideas. This is an excellent learning tool in my opinion.
Children do not generally see books as a "go-to toy but by making this experience fun and allowing them to twist and spin the letters into a word they see, your child feels like an integral part of the story. And the added benefit is that it is a great sensory tool and keeps those little hands occupied!
And no need to worry about having block letters everywhere, it is very simple to use. These letter set squares stay snared together, making clean up simple. It comes with a cute burlap sack to keep every single one of the square blocks together.
These "Spinny Blocks" are perfect for kids ages 3 through 6 years old.
